During the times of the 1830s and 1840s, the American people who did not support the use of alcohol , or prohibitionists , were behind the movement. Alcohol cosumption caused men to be abusive towards their wives, and wreaking havoc. A main supporter and contributor to the banning of alcohol was Carrie Nation.
