In the transformation,

g(x)=a*f(x-h)+k

a stretches the parent function f(x) by a scale factor of a (a>1), or

shrinks the parent function by a factor of a (0<a<1).

It will also translate a distance of h to the RIGHT, and

a distance of k UP.


Therefore if a value of k=10, the function f(x)=sqrt(x) becomes

g(x)=sqrt(x)+10, or it is moved upwards by 10 units.
