Answer: 1,679,616 different outcomes

(a little over 1.6 million)


To get this answer, you multiply eight copies of "6"

which can be written in shorthand as exponential notation

6^8 = 6*6*6*6 * 6*6*6*6 = 1,679,616


A smaller similar example is if you roll 2 dice making you have 6^2 = 6*6 = 36 different outcomes. All of the 36 outcomes can be represented in a table that has 6 rows and 6 columns.
