At the end of the Mexican-American War, the United States paid $15 million and left Mexico City in exchange for western lands from the Louisiana Purchase and beyond & the Gadsen Purchase.
The Gadsen Purchase was a purchase of a strip of land located in Present-day New Mexico & Arizona that completed the today's border of the US country.
