I'm not sure if I got the question correctly, but if you mean something like
"three times a number is the same as five times the number"
then you have an equation like
[tex]3x=5x[/tex]
Subtract 3x from both sides and you have
[tex]2x=0[/tex]
Divide both sides by 2 to get
[tex]x=0[/tex]
