Most people are happy with 150 image dots per printed inch while a professional would want 300 image dots per printed inch. If you are thinking of printing 4x6 shots, you would need are resolution of at least 600x900 at 150 Image dots/inch or 1200x1800 at 300 Image dots/ inch.
