Latoya, Carlos, and Austin have a total of $119 in their wallets. Austin has 3 times what Carlos has. Latoya has $6 less than Carlos. How much does each have?

Steps:

A = 3C

L = C - 6

119 = L + C + A

Substituting in the equations for L and A;

119 = C - 6 + C + 3C

119 = 5C - 6

125 = 5C

A = 3 * 25

A = 75

L = 25 - 6

L = 19
