I suppose we need the slope-intercept form which is y = mx + b (where m = slope, b = y-int).

We are given the points (2,0) and (0,5)

To determine the slope, we can use the equation:
[tex]m = \frac{ y_{2}- y_{1} }{ x_{2}- x_{1} } [/tex]

Where
[tex] x_{1}=2, y_{1}=0, x_{2}=0, y_{2}=5[/tex]

So
[tex]m = \frac{5 - 0}{0 - 2} [/tex]
[tex]m = \frac{5}{-2} [/tex]

Now we know [tex]m = -\frac{5}{2} [/tex] and we were already given the y-intercept of 5 so...

[tex]y = -\frac{5}{2}x+5[/tex]
