The Bay of Pigs did not succeed. Fidel Castro was a Cuban official who overthrew General Fulgencio Batista, the president of Cuba with American support. On April 17, 1961, the Bay of Pigs attack was ordered by the CIA, and 1400 American troops attempted to invade Cuba and take care of Fidel Castro. However, there were many more Cuban forces than American and they were outnumbered, so the Americans surrendered in less than 24 hours.
