step 1 - since x is equal to - 1 we can substitute negative one in place of x

5 - ( x - 2 )

substitute -

5 - ( -1 -2 )

step 2 - now solve

first solve the bracket

5 - ( - 1 - 2 )

therefore,

5 - ( - 3 )

solve

= 8

so the answer is 8
