66 million years ago at the end of Cretaceous period. It was called The Cretaceous- Palestine extinction event.

Dinosaurs went extinct about 65 million years ago. We know now that there was a meteor strike that happened about 65 million years ago and most scientists believe that or that plus a few other things is what initiated the collapse of the age of the dinosaurs and initiated the rise of mammals which then leads to us so 65 million years ago, there was an extinction event.
