-x^2 - 5x - 4 = -x^2 + 9x - 18
-5x - 9x = -18 + 4
-14x = -14
x = -14/-14
x = 1 <====

y = -x^2 - 5x - 4
y = (-1^2) - 5(1) - 4
y = 1 - 5 - 4
y = 1 - 9
y = -8 <====
