a = ( 1 , 6 )

b = ( 4 , 9 )

[tex]slope = \frac{y(b) - y(a)}{x(b) - x(a)} \\ [/tex]

Now just need to put the coordinates in the above equation :

[tex]slope = \frac{9 - 6}{4 - 1} \\ [/tex]

[tex]slope = \frac{3}{3} \\ [/tex]

[tex]slope = 1[/tex]
