[tex]x = 5 - 21[/tex]

[tex]\color{hotpink}x = ( - 16)[/tex]

Let us check whether or not we have found out the correct value of x , by placing -16 in the place of x :-

[tex] - 16 + 21 = 5[/tex]

[tex] 5=5[/tex]

As the left hand side of the equation is equivalent to the right hand side of the equation, we can conclude that we have found out the correct value of x .
