The arrival of the Modern World of Europeans in 1492 forever changed America. In the next 350 years, Spain controlled a large empire built on the work and abuse of the indigenous people. Conquistadors came down to America with the expectation that they would introduce Catholicism to new worlds and draw great prosperity.
