If a pine tree grows 4 inches per year, how long will it take for the tree to reach a height of 6 feet?

1. convert the 6 feet to inches > 6x12=72 (times 12 because there are 12 inches in a foot)
2. divide it by 4, the inches per year it takes to grow > 72/4 = 18

I will take 18 years for the tree to reach the height of 6 feet.

12 inches=1ft. It takes 3 years just to grow 1 foot. So in order for it to reach a height of 6 feet, you multiply 3x3x3x3x3x3
