How did the acquisition of Texas benefit the United States?

the acquisition of texas had both its positive and negative impacts on the USA. because texas was pro-slavery, it threatened the balance between free states and slave states. a positive impact was that the US would win and acquire a large area of land through the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848 and the Gadsden purchase in 1854. the land from this would eventually turn in to what we know as Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Wyoming
