The environment changed so the light moths benefited from the ad adaptation that they had that in cause an increase in light moths.

Answer: Because other animals kept eating the dark ones. This led to the adaptation of light colored moths. Im guessing most of the population of moths were in light colored places, so it would be easier to not get eaten and camoflauge
