No, it doesn’t lie on the line.

For a point to lie on the line, you have to be able to plug the x coordinate into the x and the y coordinate into f(x) and the math has to be true. In this case, plug in the x and y and you get 2=-5/8(1) + 16
Simplify the math and the two sides are not equal, therefore that point does not lie on the line. Points that lie on the line are solutions that make the equation true.
