Negative reinforcers are a way of rewarding someone by taking something bad away from a person, such as a strait-A student getting chores reduced for their effort in school, which ultimately increases their responsiveness to life situations as an operant. Alternatively, punishments reduce that due to it being looked at as a discouragement to the operant. Hope that helps :)
