y = 2x + 5
(7,1)...x = 7 and y = 1
now we sub
1 = 2(7) + 5
1 = 14 + 5
1 = 19...incorrect....NO (7,1)  is not a solution

***now if there was a typo and ur set of points are (1,7)
y = 2x + 5
7 = 2(1) + 5
7 = 2 + 5
7 = 7...correct....so (1,7) is a solution
