2x^2+6x-8  the factors j and k will be the two values that satisfy two conditions...

jk=ac=-16 and j+k=b=6 so j and k must be 8 and -2

2x^2-2x+8x-8

2x(x-1)+8(x-1)

(2x+8)(x-1)

2(x+4)(x-1)
