Describe what the vertical line test is used for.

The vertical line test is used to tell if a graph is a function or not. To pass a vertical line test, you would have to be able to draw a vertical line anywhere on the graph and two points can't be hit. Linear functions will pass the vertical line test, while a horizontal quadratic function will not.
