Lister improved the survival rate of his patients by using sterilization. He used it on his tools and his patients which increased the survival rate and helped scars and wounds heal after operations. He was the one who successfully introduced it and Joseph Lister is seen as a pioneer in British medicine and made the whole concept of surgery safer. His father was also an important man in ophthalmology.
