Plug the second equation into the first equation.

2x+3(x-1)=12

Multiply everything in the parenthesis by 3.

2x + 3x - 3 = 12

Combine like terms.

5x - 3 = 12

Add 3 to both sides.

5x = 15

Divide 5 on both sides.

x = 3

Put this into the second equation.

y = 3 - 1

y = 2

Your solution is (3,2)

Hope this helps!
