75 percent of Medicaid beneficiaries are children, their parents and pregnant women. However, this group only account for 33 percent of Medicaid expenditures. The bulk of Medicaid’s spending (67%) is for the remaining 25% of Medicaid beneficiaries (mainly the aged, disabled, and mentally disabled).
