First you should Simplify
[tex] \frac{20}{24} = \frac{5}{6} [/tex]
[tex] \frac{3}{6} + \frac{1}{3} = \frac{5}{6} [/tex]

Solution
1. Find the LCM between 6 and 3 which is 8
2. Times 3 and 6 to both sides of the equation respectively.
[tex] \frac{3 \times 3}{18} + \frac{6 \times 1}{18} [/tex]
[tex] \frac{9 + 6}{18} = \frac{15}{18} [/tex]
3. Simplify the answer by dividing by 3.
