Pueblo peoples most likely view Chaco Canyon as a significant place because they designed and built Pueblo Bonito at the heart of it. It is a great feat, because there was no trace of trees in the area and the Pueblo had to go into the mountains to get building materials or had it imported. The Great Houses inside of the canyon were also used as burial sites for their dead.
