how to know if this object will sink or float in a fluid?

Determine the object's density.  Measure its mass and its volume,
then divide the mass by the volume.

Then determine the density of the fluid.

The object will float if its density is less than the fluid's density, and
sink if its density is greater than that of the fluid.
