To figure out whether or not this is a right triangle, we can use Pythagorean theorem.

hypotenuse^2 = sideA^2 + sideB^2

Our hypotenuse should be the largest side, so...

16^2 should = 12^2 + 8^2

16^2 = 12^2 + 8^2

 256 = 144 + 64

256 ≠ 208

So this is NOT a right triangle :)
