The aim of Italian Baroque art was to restore the predominance of Catholicism and centrality. Italian Baroque has spanned from the late sixteenth century up to the early eighteenth century and was considered as the Roman Catholic's answer to the Protestant Reformation that emerged in the early sixteenth century.
