Basically we need to add and subtract 1/2 from 1/6:

(1) 1/6 - 1/2 = 1/6 - 3/6
= -2/6
= -1/3

(2) 1/6 + 1/2 = 1/6 + 3/6
= 4/6
= 2/3

Therefor the two numbers that are located 1/2 unit from 1/6 are -1/3 and 2/3
